All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education in India. It was established in November 1945 as an advisory body and later given statutory status by an Act of Parliament in 1987. AICTE is responsible for the planning, formulation, and maintenance of norms and standards, quality assurance through accreditation, funding in priority areas, monitoring and evaluation, and overall coordination of technical education in India.
